Greg was born on February 23, 1956, in Effingham, IL, the son of Glenn L. and Patricia J. (Becker) Webb. On March 13, 1976, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Rhea Cable. Together, they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage – a testament to their deep love and commitment. A graduate of Effingham High School, Greg was the co-owner of Heritage Builders of Effingham alongside his son, Cody. He was deeply dedicated to his work and took great pride not only in what he built, but in the people he worked with. His care and respect for his employees was evident to everyone who knew him. Greg had a genuine kindness that could be felt by anyone he met. He was a generous man who found joy in helping others succeed—a true caretaker at heart. Above all, Greg cherished his role as “Papa.” He spent countless hours supporting his sons, grandchildren, and the local youth sports community, rarely missing a game. In his quieter moments, he enjoyed watching sports and his favorite show, Gunsmoke.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Rhea Webb of Effingham; his sons, Jason (Amber) Webb of Teutopolis and Cody (Amy) Webb of Watson; and his niece, who he loved as a daughter, Molly (Clark) Williamson of Effingham. He is also survived by his grandchildren who adored him: Camden (Allison Nichols) Webb, Khye Webb, and Brady Webb of Teutopolis; Colton Webb and Kylie Webb of Watson; and Connor Williamson, Cooper Williamson, and Caroline Williamson of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Patricia Webb; his brother, Frank Webb; and his grandchild, Beckett Williamson.
Greg’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for his family and community will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
