An inmate in Cumberland County Jail died over the weekend.
50-year-old Harvey Starwalt, Jr. of Jewett was being held on drug production and possession charges. At 6:10am Saturday, the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 was requested by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to investigate Starwalt’s death. Starwalt was located unresponsive in his cell.
State Police say the investigation is active and ongoing.
