The Effingham Unit #40 Board of Education took action on a number of personnel moves at Monday night’s meeting. Unit #40 Superintendent Andrew Johnson provided additional information Thursday on the various moves involved.

The Board finalized its five-year Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Effingham Classroom Teachers Association, retroactive to July 1, 2025.

The Board approved the honorable dismissal of five teachers…four flex teachers and an elementary teacher who was part of a reduction in force move.

The Board approved the honorable dismissal of an educational support personnel employee, in this case a strength and conditioning coach. The district and the Effingham Sportsbackers split the cost of the individual’s salary for the one year the agreement was in place.

The Board approved the non-renewal of an administrator’s contract, in this case the position of high school athletic director Mack Thompson. The district will return to one athletic director with Vince Rohr holding that position.

The Board also approved a Deputy Superintendent contract with Kelsey Baker. As was announced earlier this week, Baker will continue working with Superintendent Johnson for the final two years prior to his retirement at the end of the 2027-2028 school year, then Baker will become Superintendent.
