Unofficial results from Tuesday’s Illinois Primary Election show that Fayette County State’s Attorney Brenda Mathis won the Republican nomination for the 4th Judicial Circuit judge’s seat that had been held by the retired Douglas Jarman.
The results show Mathis with 8,112 votes to 8,081 votes for Wesley Gozia of Marion County, who was appointed to succeed Jarman until the election.
Effingham County State’s Attorney Aaron Jones finished with 6,952 votes, and Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip Givens received 4,772 votes.
