Sigel St. Michael captured the championship of the Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Volleyball Sectional Monday.
The Sharpshooters defeated Chrisman Scottland 25-16, 25-13.
The match was one of only two that were contested in sectional play due to the weather Monday.
St. Michael advances to the Class 8-1A State Tournament Friday and will play either Kankakee Grace Christian or Ottawa Marquette at Wenona Fieldcrest at 5:45 p.m.
At Effingham
North Clay’s season came to a close in the Class 8-2A St. Anthony Sectional Monday.
North Clay fell to Morrisonville, 25-23, 25-18 and ends the season with a 26-1 record.
North Clay’s Amelia Wendling was the Sportsmanship Pin Recipient.
Morrisonville improved to 22-4 and heads to the Class 8-2A State Tournament Friday to play in an 8:15 p.m. contest.
At Teutopolis
Lawrenceville Parkview came out the champion at the Class 8-3A Teutopolis Sectional Monday evening.
Parkview downed Sullivan, 25-23, 25-21 and will now advance to the Class 8-3A State Tournament at Pana High School.
Parkview will face Staunton Friday at 7 p.m. with a 24-0 record.
