Stewardson Trinity went to Jasper Elementary, near Fairfield for a six team volleyball tournament was the winner.
There were two pools of three teams each. In one pool was Stewardson Trinity, Wayne City and Jasper. In the other pool was Fairfield, Cisne and New Hope.
Cisne won its pool. The pool Stewardson Trinity was in ended in a three-way tie.
Trinity lost to Wayne City and beat Jasper and Jasper beat Wayne City.
“We ended up first in our pool because we allowed the least amount of points in our pool matches,” said Coach Tammy Manhart. “We struggled to find our groove Thursday, losing a tough one to Wayne City. But came back Friday playing like we can.
“We took care of business against Jasper and were ready for a battle against a good Cisne team. I was very proud of how the girls bounced back from the loss on Thursday. They worked so hard in the championship match. This was the toughest match we have played all season.
“I am pleased with how the girls are working together here at the end of the season, just in time for post season. We have SIJHSAA regionals Tuesday at Trinity.”
