Eva Marie Rincker Schultz was born April 3, 1928, the youngest child of Martin J. and Anna Katherine Schmitt Rincker on a farm in Shelby County, two miles north of Stewardson. She was
baptized in infancy by Pastor Mueller on April 29, 1928 and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson on March 29, 1942. Eva was happy to have attended Lutheran Schools at St. Paul’s Strasburg and Trinity Lutheran in Stewardson. Then graduated in 1946 from Stewardson High School. She worked at Norge and the Illinois Telephone Company before marriage. Eva married Ervin Schultz on September 24, 1950, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, by Reverend G.A. Lueck. After Ervin served his country in the Korean War, they moved to his parents’ farm southeast of Stewardson, where they continued the farming operation with their family.
Ervin and Eva were blessed with three children, Ronald Ervin (Kay) Schultz, Ruthann Marie (Danny) Nichols, and Jeffrey Dale (Janet) Schultz, all of Stewardson; 10 grandchildren: Brian (Nola) Schultz, Kari Schultz, Katie (Jason) Durbin, Christy (Andrew) Goble, Laney Schultz, Holly (Mark) Cordes, Joel Schultz, Shyann (Brandon) Evans, Blake Nichols, and Landen Nichols; 11 great-grandchildren: Austin, Courtney, Brinlie, Brilynn, Aiden, Tessa, Bentley, Dixie, Beau, Ainsley, and Briah; eight great-great-grandchildren: Kase, Lane, Raylen, Riggs, Jaxon, Kip, Radley, and Lettie.
Eva was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson, a long-time member of the Trinity Ladies Aid, an avid homemaker and farmer’s wife, cherishing her Lord, her family and her friends. Eva loved baking and cooking for her family, tending to her flowers, as well as sending cards and letters to many. One of her favorite chores was picking up and delivering her grandchildren to wherever needed and always being on call to run her “menfolk” farmers to and from the fields. Many will remember her for her wonderful homemade noodles and angel-food cakes, her stash of candy bars and an abundance of orange Hi-C drinks.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Ervin on February 1, 1995; her son, Ronald; brothers, Waldo and Leo Rincker; sisters, Mabel Perkinton and Esther Bugenhagen, as well as three young brothers, Clarence, Elmer and Glen, and one young sister Alma.
