A Mason man was injured in a UTV crash Friday night.
Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash happened at 7:18pm on 750th Street, just south of Interstate 57. The UTV driven by 55-year-old Kenton Ort of Mason was traveling northbound, just north of the northbound entrance ramp at Edgewood. The unit collided with a guard rail on the east side of the roadway.
A passenger on the UTV, 31-year-old Dylan Lewis of Dieterich, was thrown from the vehicle. Lewis was treated by Rural Med EMS, then was airlifted from the scene to a St. Louis area hospital. Ort was not treated for injuries.
Ort, though, was cited for DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an ATV on the roadway, and improper lane usage.
