DeVure (Dee) Pieper went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2026, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.
Dee was born DeVure Snodderly, on December 26, 1940, in Beckley, West Virginia, to John and Mildred (Keener) Snodderly. She lived in West Virginia and near Sevierville, Tennessee, for several years, before moving to Shelbyville, Illinois, where she graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1958. After a few years of living in Chicago, Dee and Paul lived in or around Effingham for almost 40 years. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she blessed them with a legacy of love and precious memories. She also enjoyed shopping, eating out and spending time with friends, many of them lifelong. She was a strong Christ follower, and an active member of Crossroots Church.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Snodderly, and her husband, Paul Pieper.
She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Glen) Ballinger of Strasburg, IL, and Kim (Charlie) Muller of Irving, TX; three grandchildren, Kara (Chad) Dalton, of Imperial, MO, Jake (partner, David Schluckebier) Muller, of Plano, TX, and Haley (Dan) Duffield, of Surprise, AZ; and four great-grandchildren, Kevin, Beth, Reilly, and Rowan Dalton of Imperial, MO.
A private family burial will be held. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made directly to Crossroots Church, 3200 S. Banker Street, Effingham, Illinois. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
