The Effingham County Chamber, in partnership with its Chamber Workforce Development Committee, is launching a new Open Interview Day series designed to strengthen connections between local businesses and job seekers while supporting workforce growth across Effingham County.
The initiative begins Thursday, February 26, with the first of three free virtual “Interview Day Prep” workshops held via Zoom. These sessions are open to the public and designed to help job seekers feel confident, prepared, and ready to make a strong impression.
Interview Day Prep Series
#1: How to Write a Resume

Led by Susan Wilson, CEFS
This session focuses on building a strong, effective resume that clearly highlights skills, experience, and strengths. Participants will gain practical formatting tips and insight into what employers are truly looking for.
#2: How to Prep for the Perfect Interview
March 19
Led by Shonna Kracinski, Midland States Bank
This workshop covers how to prepare with confidence, from researching ahead of time to answering tough questions and presenting yourself professionally.
#3: Seal the Deal: How to Stand Out & Get Hired
March 31
Led by Rachel Collins, Stevens Industries, Inc.
Participants will learn practical strategies to stand out from other candidates, communicate their value clearly, and follow up professionally to leave a lasting impression.
Each session includes 45 minutes of content followed by 15 minutes of live Q&A. All workshops are free to attend and open to everyone. Registration is required through the Chamber’s Events Calendar – EffinghamCountyChamber.com/
The Interview Day Prep series leads into Open Interview Day on April 23, a new approach to hiring that goes beyond the traditional job fair model.
Instead of waiting behind a table, participating businesses will open their doors and welcome job seekers directly into their workplaces. This format gives candidates the opportunity to explore real work environments, meet hiring teams face-to-face, ask questions, and make meaningful connections beyond a paper application.
For businesses, Open Interview Day provides a focused hiring opportunity to connect with motivated local candidates who are ready to work and ready to grow.
Hiring local strengthens our workforce, supports our economy, and keeps talent in our community, which is a priority of the Chamber Workforce Development Committee.
Participation is free for job seekers and open to everyone. Businesses may participate for $100.
Additional details regarding participating businesses, schedules, and locations will be announced soon.
