TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis advanced to the championship game of its own Class 2A Girls High School Basketball Regional Monday evening.
The Wooden Shoes ran out to an 18-7 opening quarter lead and went on to win by 30 points in a 52-22 game against Marshall.
The Shoes’ Kelsey Niemerg put in two baskets and two free throws for six points in the opening quarter while Anna Probst hit a three-pointer and two free throws for five. Sophia Martin added a three-pointer.
T-town pushed into a 34-9 halftime lead as Niemerg continued on with two baskets and a free throw for five while Malea Helmink also hit two baskets and a free throw for five.
The Wooden Shoes had an 18-13 second half. Nora Bueker scored five points in the third quarter and Sophia Cremens put in a three-pointer.
Helmink led in rebounds with 12 while Kelsey Niemerg had seven. Martin and Allie Ruholl had three steals each.
In the other contest, Robinson edged Sullivan, 46-43.
Teutopolis and Robinson will meet Thursday for the Class 2A Regional championship at 7 p.m.

At Mount Carmel
Newton saw its season come to a close at the Class 2A Mount Carmel Regional Monday evening.
The Eagles fell to host Mount Carmel, 59-28.
Mount Carmel moved into a 28-17 halftime lead then had a 22-7 third quarter run.
The Golden Aces had four players hit double figures led by Maycee Randall with 15. Riley Hershey tallied 14, Teasley Dunlap 12 and Alivia Peach 10.
Newton was led by Alani Bergbower with nine points on four field goals, one a three-pointer. Claire Probst led in rebounds with seven while Allie Hermann pulled down six.
Newton ends the season with a 22-11 record.
“I am so proud of this team and what they accomplished this year,” said Newton Coach Brad Harris. “Thankful for Izzy and the leadership she provided this year. We wish her the best as she continues her education beyond high school. This was a fun group to coach and I am excited to see what they accomplish next year.”
Mount Carmel will face Fairfield at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.
