 Junior High Volleyball — February 12 Results

NEWTON — Effingham was a winner over Newton St. Thomas in junior high volleyball competition Thursday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade matchup 27-25, 25-13.

Anna Gouchenouer, Mia Hartke and Kynlie Rohr finished with four digs each while Hartke led in assists with five and aces with three. Rosie Schmidt also had three aces. Alivia Lauritzen led in kills with six.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham lost the opener 25-19 but came back with 25-18, 26-24 wins for the match.

Miley Wilson led in kills with six. Kendyl Smith had six aces and one block, Madalyn Hoffman had one block. Kenley Moore led in assists with 14. Kloey Bierman had 15 digs.

At Newton

Seventh-Grade Match

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis hosted Dieterich and swept the night Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes won the C match, 25-12, 20-14.

T-town then claimed the seventh-grade match, 25-15, 25-11 and won the eighth-grade contest. They lost the opening set 25-12 but came back with 25-16, 25-19 tallies for the match.

 

At Mulberry Grove

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner in both matches Thursday.

The Bobcats won the seventh-grade contest, 25-2, 25-18.

Brooke Tucker led in aces with eight. Elli Wheeler and Brielle McCoy had two kills each. Kynzleigh Sarver led in assists with two. Makynlie Prater had one dig.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC won 25-14, 25-21.

Alyson Lawrence had eight kills. Valentina Doty led in aces with five and assists with 10. Jacey Sears had six digs.

Sigel St. Michael claimed an eighth-grade victory over Altamont Thursday evening.

St. Michael won 25-23, 25-13.

Altamont was led by Kinze Polk with five digs, Ashtyn Veach with four aces and Kali Merritt and Addison Neu with two kills each.

Altamont (3-10) is back in action Tuesday against Teutopolis.

At Newton

Jasper County split victories with Albion Thursday.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade match, 25-22, 25-14 but fell in eighth-grade play, 25-19, 25-22.

Leading Jasper County in seventh-grade play was E. Wolf with six kills and one block, Wagner with three aces H. Wolf with seven assists and Hartrich with seven digs. The team is now 9-2.

In eighth-grade action, Albion was the winner, 25-19, 25-22.

Leading Jasper County were Wolf with 10 assists and four kills, Jansen with 11 digs and Jansen, Ochs and Wolf with one ace each. The team is now 8-3.

Jasper County is back in action at the LEIC Eighth-Grade Tournament at Marshall Saturday.

At Fairfield

North Clay handed Fairfield losses in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Thursday.

North Clay lost the opening set in seventh-grade play, 26-24 but came back with 25-16, 15-13 scores for the win.

In eighth-grade action, North Clay as a winner 25-12, 25-17 and is unbeaten at 14-0.

North Clay returns to play today at Patoka.
