The Effingham Athletic Department runs an Athlete of the Month program every month. Athletes are nominated by coaches based upon the following criteria: Stats, Accomplishments, Character, Coachability, Leadership and Sportsmanship.
January 2026 Winners:
Tessa Raddatz, Jr. – Girls Basketball
“Tessa is a key part to the team that is currently ranked #4 in the latest poll T 23-2. She is the third leading scorer, and our best Free Throw Shooter, she recently had a huge game against Teutopolis and then made 5 3’s versus Charleston. She is a tenacious defender and helps bring a lot of positive energy to our team. She has been a key part of our success so far.” — Coach Jeff Schafer
Jake Niebrugge, Jr. – Boys Basketball
“Jake was one of our top all around performers in the month of January. He averaged 7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5 assists per game. He also was a top defender for us creating many turnovers with his quick hands and pressure on the other teams point guard. Jake is one of our team captains that brings extra energy to practices each and every day.” — Coach Mack Thompson
