Betty Jo Stanford, age 92, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 9:56 am, Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Axiom Healthcare of Flora.
Born on May 5, 1933, in Monticello, Kentucky, the daughter of Herman and Effie (Barker) Garrett. Betty was united in marriage to Glenn Harry Stanford on January 29, 1955, at the Bethalto Methodist Church, and they shared 63 years to the day before he preceded her in death on January 29, 2018.
Throughout her career, Betty served as an office secretary, showcasing her talents in numerous businesses over the years. Her last position was at Garrett Heating and Cooling in Louisville.
A lifelong member of the Louisville Methodist Church, Betty extended her nurturing spirit beyond her family to all those around her. She was always ready to lend a helping hand whether it was at church or among friends and family, epitomizing what it meant to be a supportive and loving presence in the lives of others.
Betty had a particular affection for flowers. Every year, she eagerly awaited visits from her daughter-in-law, who would adorn her yard with new, vibrant blooms. Her love for nature was further expressed through her walks, where she cherished the beauty of her surroundings. In moments when she could not venture outside, she found solace in reading and took great pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming home.
An avid animal lover, especially fond of dogs, Betty’s greatest joy came from her family. Her home was a haven for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as she relished every opportunity to have them come over and share cherished moments together.
Betty is survived by her children: Steve (Betty D.) Stanford of Brownsburg, Indiana, Julie (Harry) Winterrowd of Louisville; 3 grandchildren: Matthew (Amanda) Winterrowd, Buck (Tiffany) Stanford, Jeff Stanford; 6 great-grandchildren: Madison Winterrowd, Dylan Stanford, Mackenzie Winterrowd, Bradyn Stanford, Korbyn Stanford, Allyson Stanford; brother: Bill (Darlene) Garrett of Louisville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; stepmother: Loretta Garrett; a grandson: Brian Stanford.
