Effingham High School played host to Terre Haute South and fell to the visitors by a 51-41 count Wednesday evening.
Terre Haute South edged out to an 8-7 opening quarter lead then went on a 14-4 second period run to lead 22-11 at halftime.
The Hearts had a slight 12-11 third quarter and also outscored Terre Haute South 18-17 in the final period but it was too little.
Kellen Richmond led Effingham with 14 points while Coen Westjohn added 11.
