Members of the Altamont Schuetzenfest Committee spoke to the Altamont City Council this week about relocating where the event would take place.

After many years at the County Fairgrounds, Schuetzenfest representatives suggested relocating the event to downtown Altamont.

Plans are preliminary, but moving downtown could involve local businesses and restaurants in the celebration.

Also this week, Altamont council members finalized a TIF agreement with Bannister Properties for $5,000 at Division and Main. Also approved was a payment to H&K Excavating for demolition of the former Dairy Bar at 600 South Main Street. The plan is to now use the location for food trucks.

The Council paid Kieffer Brothers Construction for the water main installation project, and met in closed session for property and personnel matters, but took no open session action.
