CHATHAM — Effingham High School took the early lead but Chatham Glenwood came back with a 29-14 second half for a 50-42 boys basketball victory Tuesday evening.
The Hearts moved into a 14-7 opening quarter lead as Cannon Bockhorn scored five while Max Buzzard tallied four and Jenner Pals hit a three-pointer.
Chatham Glenwood played the Hearts even in the second period with a 14-14 score and EHS led 28-21 at halftime.
But Glenwood came back in the third quarter, outscoring the Hearts 15-6 as Hugo Lopp hit three baskets and two of two at the line for eight points. Glenwood then had a 14-8 final period run for the victory.
EHS was led by Pals with 15 points on six field goals, three of those from beyond the arc. Buzzard chipped in with nine.

At Mount Zion
Landyn Thoele got Teutopolis headed in the right direction, scoring seven of his team’s 16 first quarter points as the Wooden Shoes moved into a 16-9 lead against Mount Zion Tuesday evening.
T-town then had a 9-3 second period to lead 25-12 at halftime. Isaac McWhorter, who hit an opening quarter three and added a second three and finished with three more for 16 points to lead the Shoes to a 62-31 victory.
McWhorter was one of three players in double figures. Gavin Addis pitched in with 12 points while L. Thoele added 11.
Teutopolis also captured the junior varsity contest by a whopping 76-34 tally.
The Shoes ripped out to a 42-15 halftime lead.
Eleven players scored in the game led by Kendal Mette with 14 points and Eric Weidner with 12. Jake Probst and Sam Probst added nine each and Blake Niemerg finished with eight.
