CASEY — Dieterich had to go overtime but pulled out a 38-35 victory over Casey-Westfield in the Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Boys Basketball Regional Thursday.
Casey-Westfield took a 7-1 opening quarter lead but Dieterich went on a 14-10 second period run to trail by two at halftime.
Brock Koester hit two baskets and was two of two at the line for six points to lead Dieterich. Colten Keck added four points and Chase Bohnhoff three.
In the third period, Casey-Westfield once again outscored Dieterich and led 27-23 going into the final quarter.
That’s when Dieterich took off with a 13-7 run to knot the score and the game went ovetime.
In the overtime period, Dieterich had a 2-1 run to pull out a 38-35 victory.
Bohnhoff led the team with 16 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of seven at the line. Brock Koester added 15, seven coming in the fourth quarter.
Dieterich advances to the St. Anthony Sectional Monday where the squad will meet St. Anthony at 6 p.m.

Class 7-3A Marshall Regional
Teutopolis came out a 58-45 winner over Marshall to win the championship of the Class 7-3A Marshall Regional Thursday evening.
The Wooden Shoes held a 22-14 halftime lead then had a 24-12 third quarter run to put the game away.
Bryson Meyer led the Shoes with 25 points while Dylan Deters added 17. The Shoes were seven of 12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
T-town advances to its own sectional and will meet Tolono Unity Monday at 6 p.m.

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional
Pana Sacred Heart ended Altamont Lutheran’s hopes of a regional championship Thursday.
Sacred Heart was a 36-19 winner and will now advance to its own sectional Monday where the squad will face Carrollton St. John at 6 p.m.
At Greenville
Effingham St. Anthony fell to Aviston in the winner bracket of the 77th Annual James Burke Memorial Tournament Thursday.
The Bullpups lost to Aviston 41-36. In the opening contest, Salem was a 48-38 winner over Greenville.
St. Anthony and Greenville will meet for third place at 6 p.m. today while Salem and Aviston square off for the championship at 7 p.m.
At Effingham
Effingham fell in an eighth-grade A game against Charleston Thursday evening.
The Mustangs edged ahead 11-9 in the opening quarter as Justus Bridges scored four points and Trenton Partlow put in a three-pointer.
Effingham only scored nine points in the second quarter as Charleston moved ahead 24-20 at halftime. six of the nine points came from Calvin Beck.
Charleston led 33-27 going ino the final quarter when Effingham came roaring back and tied the score at 38-38 sending the game into overtime.
In the overtime period, Charleston had a 9-0 run for the 47-38 victory.
Effingham as led by Beck with 16 points and Deek Thompson with 10.
