Effingham County 911 Board members Tuesday discussed RapidWarn Response tornado sirens and the process of alerting citizens when the sirens are to be tested.
The work and the cost to reprogram the siren software on the county console was also discussed.
Once the tests are scheduled, public service announcements including here on the radio will be scheduled featuring public tests of the system. That will include tests in the Sigel area since the Sigel tower is sounded out of Effingham County.
One piece of equipment is needed to get the system completed. Global Technical Systems officials said they’d like to have the matter “in the rear view mirror in March”.
