Karen L. Robert (Lane), 74, of Neoga, passed away at 11:15 am on Friday January 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her beloved family. Karen held her faith in her Lord and Savior until he took her home.
Services will be held at the Calvary Tabernacle Church in Toledo on Friday January 23, 2026, with memorial visitation from 11:00 to 12:00 pm and memorial service beginning at 12:00 pm. The Barkley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Karen was born on October 16, 1951, in Mattoon, IL to William and Lillie (Hatten) Lane.
Survivors include her sons James Michael Walthers and Alexander Robert; grandchildren Nicholas Kirk, Angel Crawford, Morgan Walthers, Liam Stevenson; sisters Sharon Bullard, Wilma Trotter (Jerry), Rose Duckworth, Josie Kimberlin, Dolly Nease (Tom), June Morse, and Linda Lane; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, brothers William ”Bill” Lane, and Shawn Lane; sister Jewel Lane; grandparents Willis and Mae Hetzer.
Karen spent her life working in the medical field caring for others. She attended Olney College where she received her nursing degree. She later went on to attend the University of North Dakota, where she received her physician assistant licenses. She most recently worked in Cardiology in Mattoon, St. Anthony’s in Effingham as well as family practice. Karen loved spending time with her sons. She enjoyed being out in nature. Her yard and her vegetable garden were a joy for her to care for. She also enjoyed spending time with her two furry pets Bear and Biltz. Karen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
