Jacqueline Elizabeth Genaust, 69, of Effingham, IL passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family. Jacqueline was born on June 24, 1956 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Lewis “Louie” and Glenna Lorene (Buchholz) Phillips, and Jack Groves. She married Dennis Genaust on April 15, 1978, and he preceded her in death on February 29, 2024. Jackie had great affection for her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving friend and confidant who would do anything for anyone, always offering strength and support. Jackie worked at World Color in Effingham, and as a phlebotomist in the area for many years. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures such as camping, fishing, gardening, feeding the hummingbirds, shopping and attending rodeos.
Jackie is survived by her children, Thad (Kim Thomas) Genaust of Alma, IL, and Amanda Genaust of Effingham; grandchildren, MaKenna Roley, Tatum Genaust, Jaxxon Green, and Bentley Genaust; and brother, Lewis Jr. “Louie” (Sherry) Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis; and sisters, Jeana Kollman and Cheryl Locey.
