The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sullivan J. Chern, 22, of Sigel, on Wednesday, January 14, for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Sexual Exploitation of a Child.
Early Wednesday morning, an Effingham County Deputy observed a vehicle parked near the Lake Sara Beach. The Deputy determined that the two occupants of the vehicle were Chern and a female juvenile.
A subsequent investigation by Deputies and Effingham County Investigators led to Chern’s arrest.
This is an on-going investigation and additional charges are expected. He remains in the custody of the Effingham County Jail, after he was detained at his pre-trial detention hearing today.
Chern is charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony, and Sexual Exploitation of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.
