Barbara Jo Thompson, age 73, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 10:13 PM – Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Haven Ridgeview in Oblong, Illinois.
Private services will be held at a later date. In loving memory of Barbara, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Group. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Barbara Jo was born on September 7, 1952, the daughter of James E. “Jim” and Betty Jean (Dillman) Thompson.
Barbara is survived by-
Children- Ashley (husband Jacob) Cobble of Newton, Illinois and Douglas wife Amy) Thompson of Olney, Illinois
Granddaughter- Lilly Cobble of Newton, Illinois
Siblings- Robert (wife Jan) Thompson of Oxnard, California, Jack (wife Marge) Thompson of Sainte Marie, Illinois and Jude (husband Bill “Wicker”) Volk of Wakefield, Illinois.
Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Barbara was preceded in passing by her parents, husband Joe Thompson, siblings James Lee “Jim” Thompson and Kathy Ann Boyd McCarthy
