MACON — Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City traveled to Macon Meridian and fell in a girls high school basketball contest, 45-33 Wednesday evening.
Meridian moved into a 13-8 opening quarter lead as Shelby Renfro connected on three baskets and was two of two at the line for eight points.
CHBC was led by Lena Bowlin and Harper Lilly with four points each.
Meridian took the lead to 29-15 at halftime. Natalie Reynolds took over scoring with five points while Julia Meisenhelter put in a three-pointer.
The Bobcats came back to take an 8-6 third quarter lead but still trailed 35-23 at the end of the period. Ethel Stuckemeyer scored four points and Lilly and Carissa Wakefield had a basket each.
The two teams played to a 10-10 final quarter.
Meridian was led by Renfro with 19 points on eight field goals and three of six at the line. Jersey Wolfer also finished in double figures with 10.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was led by Stuckemeyer with 10 points on five field goals.
The Bobcats dropped to 3-14 on the season.
