The Effingham City Plan Commission Tuesday considered a definition for agriculture and agricultural use as a part of the text amendment to the City Zoning Ordinance, then withdrew the definition.

Jean Anne and Paul Highland were present with concerns over the definition. The chief concern is that properties within the city limits could be affected by the definition. A separate text amendment had been removed from the agenda. After some discussion, the decision was made to revisit the matter at a subsequent meeting.

The Commission approved a separate text amendment to change the definition of community residence to include a recovery home and a person in recovery.

Commission members voted to recommend the City Council reapprove a plat of the third addition of Golden Fields Subdivision. The plat was approved over a year ago, so is now being submitted for re-approval. About a dozen residential lots are involved.

City Planner Greg Koester said a meeting scheduled for January 22 could address the next step in approving the 2050 Comprehensive Plan. Final action on the Plan by the City Council could come at the March 3 meeting.
