Effingham Sacred Heart picked up an eighth-grade boys basketball victory over Altamont Lutheran Monday evening.
The Shamrocks led Altamont Lutheran 19-14 at halftime then had a 20-10 second half run.
Gabe Traub scored 23 to lead Sacred Heart while Ruben Jansen added seven.
The Shamrocks are back in action today at Cumberland.

At Effingham
Effingham Junior High School fell to Taylorville in eighth-grade play Monday evening.
Taylorville stepped out to a 17-8 opening quarter lead and led 25-13 at halftime. Effingham came back with a 25-15 second half but couldn’t overcome the opening half.
Calvin Beck scored 12 for the Mustangs.

At Mount Zion
Effingham St. Anthony fell in both seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball to Mount Zion Monday evening.
In the seventh-grade game, St. Anthony held a 12-8 halftime lead but Mount Zion came back in the second half with an 18-8 run for a 26-20 victory.
James Gilmore led St. Anthony with seven points.
The Bullpups suffered their first loss of the season and drop to 18-1.
In eighth-grade play, Mount Zion won 43-34. Mount Zion ran out to a 19-10 opening quarter lead and led 25-19 at halftime. St. Anthony pulled within 31-27 in the third quarter but Mount Zion finished with a 12-7 run.
B. Schultz led the Bullpups with 15 points.
St. Anthony fell to 10-9 on the season.

At Stewardson
Stewardson-Strasburg was a winner over Cumberland in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Monday evening.
Stew-Stras headed out to a 13-4 opening quarter lead in seventh-grade action and won 47-30.
Three players hit double figures. Worman led with 16 points while Ashmore and Nichols had 10 each. Stew-Stras improved to 13-6 on the season.
Cumberland was led by Dittamore with 13.
In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras moved into a 21-9 first half lead and won 44-29.
Pruemer was the lone player in double digits with 18 as seven players scored for the winners.
Cumberland was led by Clapp with 13.
Stew-Stras remains unbeaten with a 21-0 record and is 9-0 in the National Trail Conference.

Altamont came calling and captured two victories over South Central Monday evening.
Altamont was a 30-26 winner in the seventh-grade game. Altamont held a 18-10 halftime lead.
Arnold led the winners with 13 points.
Hall led South Central with 11.
In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont won 39-32.
South Central edged out to a 15-13 opening quarter lead but Altamont came back with a 13-4 secon period to lead 24-19 at halftime.
Altamont had two players in double figures, Huston and Neu scored 11 points each.
South Central was led by Conant with eight.

Dieterich was a winner in the seventh-grade contest but fell in eighth-grade play to Olney, Richland County Monday.
The Roadrunners won the seventh-grade game, 45-34 with a big scoring opening quarter, 16-4.
Brock Koester finished with 20 points while Chase Bohnhoff added 14.
In eighth-grade play, Richland County was a 39-22 winners.
Dieterich was led by Niemerg with seven points.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner in the eighth-grade contest but Ramsey claimed the seventh-grade victory.
CHBC ran out to a 13-2 lead in eighth-grade play and went on for a 40-28 win. CHBC led 19-9 at halftime.
Drake Thull led in scoring with 11 points while Lane Reed added seven.
In eighth-grade play, Ramsey had big scoring quarters in the second and third for a 35-15 win.
CHBC was led by Tyce Kircher with eight points.
CHBC will be back in action today against Sigel St. Michael.

North Clay came calling and fell to Flora in all four games Monday.
Flora won the seventh-grade game, 44-6 and claimed the eighth-grade contest, 60-51.
In sixth-grade play, Flora won 51-14 and in the fifth-grade contest, North Clay fell 24-19.
