Douglas K. “Toad” Miller, 73, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Louisville, IL, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 17, 2026 prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL.

Toad was born on September 10, 1952 in Flora, IL, the son of Reynold W. and Vivian (Stacy) Miller. Toad loved hunting, camping, and spending time with his family.
Toad is survived by his former spouse and friend, Faye Eden of Effingham; children, Brad (Daphne) Thoele of Franklin, Darrell (Sara) Thoele of Sigel, Nathaniel Miller of Effingham, and Tyson (Nicole) Miller of Mt. Zion; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 9 nieces and nephews; and sisters, Pat (Gene) Peters and Pam Wooden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Thoele; and brothers, Reynold L. Miller, Tim Miller, and Jimmy Miller.
