Pat Lagerhausen was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 4, 2026. The one thing Pat was most well known for was her love of and faith in Jesus. Those who knew and loved Pat are taking comfort in the fact that Pat is now rejoicing in the arms of Jesus.
Pat was born on December 20, 1954, in Effingham, IL to Fred and Romaine Lagerhausen of Shumway, IL. Pat graduated from Greenville College in 1978 and went to Roma, Texas to work at a mission center. Mission work and serving others was a passion of Pat’s that she had throughout her life. She was well known for helping her friends and especially for teaching her nieces, nephews, and community children how to bake. Pat did not have children of her own but considered the children she taught her own. Pat worked at Dust & Son warehouse for 32 years. She was initially hired through ARC/CSS community work program. Pat loved her work at the warehouse. She often said she was meant for that job. Pat was such a great worker that Dust & Son hired her directly. She worked for them until her retirement.
Pat is survived by her mother, Romaine; sisters, Deb (Jim) Suiter and Mary (Don) Schaefer; brothers, Emil (Melissa) Lagerhausen and David (Jo) Lagerhausen; 15 nieces and nephews; and 21 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pat was pre-deceased by her father, Fred; and her great-nephew, Jude Lagerhausen.
Funeral services for Pat will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Faith Lutheran Church in Shumway, IL. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made in Pat’s honor to Community Support Systems in Teutopolis, IL or any mission of donor’s choice.
