Lowell L. Cooper (97) of Champaign, formerly of Philo

Lowell L. Cooper, 97, of Campaign, Illinois formerly of Philo, Illinois passed away peacefully Monday, December 22, 2025, at Bickford Senior Living in Champaign, Illinois.

Lowell was born February 7, 1928, in Neoga Township, Cumberland County, Illinois the son of James A. and Ella (Hatten) Cooper.  He attended Neoga High School and worked on the family farm during his youth.  Lowell married Alice Shull on August 31, 1946, in Toledo, Illinois and they began their life together in rural Neoga, later moving to Philo. He was employed as a welder for C.S. Johnson Company and later at Flo-Con where he retired in 1993.  Lowell loved life and appreciated every day.  Lowell and Alice both loved God and realized early that they needed him to be the head of their home.  They gave their hearts to Him in Christian Baptism, at Toledo Christian Church in early 1950.  After moving to Philo, they became members of the Sidney Christian Church and continued to serve God and others during their years together.  His life was centered on his family, church, and his work. He enjoyed being helpful to anyone who needed him. Lowell also loved visiting with his family and friends.

Lowell is survived by his wife Alice V. Cooper, of Champaign, Illinois; one son, Marvin L. Cooper and wife Kathy of Decatur, Illinois; one daughter, Marilyn Warren of Philo, Illinois;  grandchildren, Lyndal Cooper of Golden Valley, Arizona, Kenneth Cooper of Decatur, Illinois, Kevin Cooper and wife Dawn of Decatur, Illinois, Jeanette Trujillo of Decatur, Illinois, Angela Wease and husband Chuck of Urbana, Illinois, Andrew Warren and wife Kimberly of Philo, Illinois; 21 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leslie Cooper, Jesse Cooper, Donald Cooper and Ivan Cooper; sisters, Lois Masey and Elsie Phillips.

As per his request Cremation Rites will be accorded and there will be a graveside service held at a later date in the Long Point Cemetery of Neoga Township, Illinois.
