Cumberland won the Vandalia Holiday Basketball Tournament championship.

VANDALIA — Cumberland High School handed Vandalia a 62-45 loss and with that victory, became the Vandalia Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament champions Tuesday evening.
The Pirates decided early they were going to claim the victory, running out to an 18-7 opening quarter lead.
Cameron Roedl hit two regular baskets and a three-pointer for seven in the quarter while Kade McMechan and Chase Stewart knocked down a three-pointer each. Zack Harmon added four points.
The Pirates had a slight 14-13 second quarter edge to lead 32-20 at halftime. Stewart hit another three-pointer while Kaleb Bierman also hit from beyond the arc. Harmon added four more points.
Cumberland’s scoring went through a lull in the third quarter as Vandalia had a 9-6 edge.
But the Pirates gathered back together to run off a 24-16 final period. Roedl put in nine more points while Stewart added five with another three. Isaac Venatta tallied six.
Roedl finished with 22 points on seven field goals, two of those three-pointers, and six of six at the line. Stewart added 11 points on three from beyond the arc and two of two at the line. Venatta and Harmon tallied eight each.
Vandalia was led by Qwentyn Stombaugh with 19 and Lucas Bowers with 16.
Cumberland’s Cameron Roedl was named to the All-Tournament Team along with Isaac Venatta. Roedl was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
Pana was a winner in the third place contest over Greenville, 65-54. Shelbyville finished fifth edging Flora 43-40. Nokomis took seventh with a 45-35 win over Meridian.
