Shelby County board members learned of a vacancy on the board at this month’s meeting.
The vacancy is due to the resignation of Sonny Ross. Ross resigned to become a member of the Windsor City Council.
The County Board has 60 days to appoint Ross’ replacement.
The Board approved a supplemental engineering agreement with Gonzalex Companies. The firm will prepare rights-of-way for reconstruction of railroad crossings at three locations where roads intersect with Union Pacific Railroad in Okaw Township. The cost will be reimbursed by the Illinois Commerce Commission. Also, resolutions were approved to allocate motor fuel tax funds for county highway maintenance and for the county engineer’s salary.
The Board approved the fiscal year tax levy, which will reduce property tax for the fiscal year.
Board members also appointed James Brent Fogleman to the Sheriff Merit Commission, and Ryan Spain to the Airport and Landing Fields Commission.
