 Dieterich To Play For Own Boys Tournament Championship

DIETERICH — Dieterich High School will be playing for its own Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament championship after picking up three victories during weekend play.

In Friday competition, Dieterich pounded Ramsey 103-24. Fourteen players scored for the Movin’ Maroons in the victory. Brock Niemerg led the way with 18 points while Ezra Cook and Jackson Icenogle scored 13 each and Hunter Niemerg finished with 11.

South Central defeated Grayville 71-60 in the second game of the day Friday. The Cougars’ Westin Neilson knocked in 36 points in the contest on 13 field goals that included six three-pointers and wa four of seven at the line. Hudson Moore scored 18.

The third game went to Red Hill over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 63-39.

The Bobcats were led by Griffin Vaughn with 17 points.

In game four, Robinson downed Grayville, 94-54.

South Central then fell to Sullivan 67-40 in the fifth game of the day. Neilson finished with 15 points and Moore added 12.

The sixth game went to Dieterich over Red Hill, 49-36.

Brock Niemerg scored 19 and Bryce Bohnhoff 12 for the winners.

In Saturday contests, Red Hill bounced Ramsey to the tune of 99-37.

Sullivan then easily won over Grayville, 73-37.

Robinson defeated South Central, 63-40. The Cougars were led by Neilson with 12 and Moore with 10.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City won over Ramsey, 72-39. Remington Howell scored 12 for the winners and Carter Dilley 11.

The next contest went to Sullivan over Robinson, 54-48.

In the final game of the day, Dieterich defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 68-42.

The Maroons were led by Niemerg and Bohnhoff with 17 points each and Alex Schottman with 10.

CHBC was led by Vaughn with 15 and Howell with 13.

Today’s games have Ramsey against Grayville for seventh place at 1 p.m., CHBC facing South Central for fifth place at 2:30, Red Hill against Robinson at 4 p.m. for third place and Dieterich and Sullivan squaring off for the championship at 8.
