Theresa A. Glant, 87, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Lakeland, FL passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, IL. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026 prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Fear Nothing. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Theresa Agnes Thoele was born on November 2, 1938 to Alph and Emma Thoele in Teutopolis, IL. She attended Maple Grove Grade School, Teutopolis High School and the Order of St. Francis
College in Joliet, IL. Theresa was a teacher for over 40 years. She was proud of her time as a volunteer helping with hospice. She attended mass when able and often could be found saying the rosary. Theresa married Bruce Glant on October 24, 1970. Bruce preceded her in death on October 24, 2007.
Theresa is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Allie) Ruholl of Teutopolis; sister-in-law, Pat Thoele of Largo, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Alph and Emma (Wente) Thoele; husband, Bruce Glant; and siblings, Clarence Thoele, Pauline (Leo) Gobczynski, Elvira (Pat) Habing, Harold
(Catherine) Thoele, Jane (Leonard) Ruholl, Jim Thoele, and John Thoele.
