ST. ELMO — Effingham St. Anthony moved into the opening quarter lead and went on for a 55-32 National Trail Conference victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown in high school boys basketball Friday evening.
The Bulldogs moved into an 18-13 lead as Miles Waldhoff connected on four baskets for eight points while Aiden Lauritzen added six.
St. Elmo/Brownstown stayed close as G. Wilhour knocked in eight points on two three-pointers and a regular basket.
St. Anthony then moved into a 34-19 halftime lead and never looked back.
The Bulldogs were led by Waldhoff with 18 points on seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of seven at the line. Gabe Looman added 12 and Lauritzen 11.
In the junior varsity contest, St. Anthony won 47-32. The Bulldogs were led by Alex Mayer with 14 and Cooper Sehy with 11.
SEB was led by Schaub with 12.

At Mount Zion
Effingham fell to Mount Zion 48-36 in an Apollo Conference contest that was heard on KJ Country 102.3. Friday evening.
The Braves took an 11-7 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 23-14 at halftime.
The Hearts struggled making only seven points in each quarter. Cannon Bockhorn put in a three-pointer in the first period while Cole Phillips had four. Jake Niebrugge and Dagg Thompson hit a three-pointer each in the second quarter.
The Hearts came back with a 12-8 run in the final period.
EHS had only one player in double figures. Jenner Pals led with 10 points, scoring eight in the secon period and a basket in the final quarter. He hit four baskets, one a three-pointer, and was one of three at the line.
