SIGEL — Dieterich came out the champion in the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.
Dieterich moved into a 13-7 opening quarter lead. Chase Bohnhoff led in the quarter with five points as he hit a regular basket and a three-pointer while Colten Keck connected on three free throws and Brock Koester had a basket and a free throw.
St. Elmo/Brownstown came back with an 8-6 second quarter to pull within 19-15 at halftime. Schaub hit a basket and two free throws for four points.
Dieterich then went on a 14-6 third quarter run to lead 31-21 and finished out with a 12-9 final period.
Bohnhoff scored 22 points to the lead the winners. He hit eight field goals, two from three-point range, and was four of six at the line. Koester tallied seven.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Brantley Wilhour with seven on three field goals, one a three-pointer.
In the third place contest, Stewardson-Strasburg won over Neoga, 41-22.
Stew-Stras ran out to a 9-1 opening quarter lead and led 23-9 at halftime. Stew-Stras finished strong with a 12-6 final period.
Nichols led Stew-Stras with 14 points on six field goals that included a three-pointer and a free throw. Stew-Stras is 10-4 on the season.
Neoga was led by Bright with 14 points on six field goals, one from three-point range, and three free throws.
The consolation championship went to Sigel St. Michael over South Central, 27-21. No other information provided.
