Members of the Effingham County Board’s Ambulance Oversight Committee Tuesday voted to resume monthly meetings. The committee has been meeting every other month.
Committee Chair Sandi Rich said she wants to meet monthly until the next ambulance contract is in place. The new contract will take effect in 2027.
Committee members reviewed the incidents over October and November when “status zero” times occurred. Representatives of Rural Med EMS went over each incident with committee members to explain why such incidents of ambulance unavailability occurred. Typically, the situations developed when several calls occurred at the same time.
Committee member Deb Murbarger said, “Our due diligence is due the County.”
