Patricia S. Chasteen, 82, of Strasburg, IL, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025 at home with family by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Patricia was born on April 22, 1943, in Hammond, IN, the daughter of Rolland Barbee and Virginia Burkett Craig. She married Lester Chasteen on August 28, 1960 and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2003. Patricia attended Kinmundy Alma High School and later retired from Fedders. She was an avid mushroom hunter, gardener, and floral crafter. Pat also enjoyed playing bingo. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always put others first.
Patricia is survived by her children, Sue (Chris) Bowers and Jeff (Dana) Chasteen; grandchildren, Brittany (Rusty) Clifton, Tanner (Caroline) Bowers, Mackenzie (Chance Hull) Chasteen, Carson (fiancée, Shea Jones) Chasteen, Cameron (Angela Kimery) Chasteen, and Cody Chasteen; greatgrandchildren, Callie, Maxwell, Waylon, Kimber, Beau, and Ellie; siblings, Marvin “Butch” Barbee, Richard “Barney” (Pam) Craig, and Jerry (Angela) Craig; sister-in-law, Alice Torgler; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester; grandchildren, Hope and Grace; and sister, Janice Schwabe.
