MATTOON — Effingham claimed a 38-34 victory over Mattoon in freshman/sophomore boys basketball Thursday evening.
The Hearts trailed Mattoon 19-16 at halftime then had a 13-9 third period run and outscored the Green Wave 9-6 in the final quarter.
Coen Westjohn was the lone player in double figures with 14.
