SIGEL — One Neoga team claimed a victory while the other squad fell in girls regional and sectional action Wednesday.
Neoga competed in the Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Sectional where they fell by a 39-15 count.
Carrollton St. John ran out to an 11-5 opening quarter lead and led 18-13 at halftime. St. John then had a 12-0 third period run to put the game away.
Neoga was led by Nora Hartke and Lydia Frankie with six points each.
Carrollton St. John advances with a 14-6 record.
Neoga ends its season at 17-6.
In the Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional, Neoga was an easy winner by a 40-0 count over Findlay Okaw Valley.
Neoga stepped out to an 11-4 opening quarter lead as Bliss Bear connected on four baskets for eight points and Kinsey Bell put in three points.
Bear continued on with a nine point second period and Bell chipped in with six as the lead went to 28-10 at halftime. Okaw Valley did not score in the second half as Neoga had a 12-0 run.
Bear hit eight field goals, one a three-pointer, and was four of eight at the line for 21 points while Bell tallied 15.
Neoga advances to meet Pana Sacred Heart today at 7:15 p.m. In the opening contest, Sigel St. Michael faces Mattoon St. John’s at 6.

Albion captured the championship of the St Anthony Sectional.
Albion edged Paris Crestwood 35-30 in overtime.
