 CHBC Wins Twice, Windsor/Stew-Stras 1-1 at Cerro Gordo Boys Tournament

CERRO GORDO — Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City captured two victories while Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg went 1-1 at the shortened Cerro Gordo Boys Basketball Tournament.

The tourney was postponed Saturday due to the weather.

Cowden-Herrick/beecher City won over Fisher 68-50, taking an 18-14 opening quarter lead then leading 35-32 at halftime.

The Bobcats broke the game wide open with a 24-4 third quarter run as Howell scored 14 of his team’s 24 points.

Howell finished with 22 points overall hitting seven field goals, two of those three-pointers, and six of eight at the line. Also in double figures was G. Vaughn with 15.

Then in the second game, CHBC downed Uni High 53-38. The Bobcats held a 22-19 halftime lead then had a 19-11 third quarter run and finished strong.

G. Vaughn scored 16 on seven field goals, one a three-pointer and one of one at the line.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg fell to Le Roy 63-35.

Le Roy led 32-17 at halftime and had a 26-6 third quarter surge.

Wyatt Wetherell led the Hatchets with nine points while Jacob Gurgel added eight.

In the second contest, Auston Rahn hit a three-pointer at the buzzer as the Comets pulled out a 59-58 victory over Heyworth.

Heyworth held a 13-8 opening quarter lead and led 30-22 at halftime. Heyworth was still ahead 44-34 going into the final quarter when WSS came back for the victory.

Rahn tallied 13 points on four field goals that include two three-pointers and was three of eight at the line. Wetherell added 12 points.

Wetherell was named to the All-Tournament Team.
