LINCOLN — Effingham St. Anthony lost to Lincoln Friday in the Pana Girls Basketball Tournament while Brownstown/St. Elmo picked up a victory.
The Bulldogs faced Lincoln and lost 53-40. Lincoln ran out to an 18-4 opening quarter lead and led 29-10 at halftime. St. Anthony came back with a 30-24 second half but the damage had already been done in the opening half.
Ali Kollmann had the lone basket in the opening quarter.
Lincoln went on to lead 29-10 at halftime. St. Anthony’s Kollmann scored four more points in the second period as the Bulldogs could only muster six total points.
St. Anthony came back with a 30-24 second half. Ruholl tallied nine points in the third quarter on three baskets, one a three-pointer, and was two of two at the line. She finished with three trifectas in the final period for nine points as the Bulldogs had a 17-13 run.
The big damage came from beyond the arc. Lincoln knocked in 13 three-pointers as McCloud had six to finish with 18 points and Clark had four to also finish with 18. Holmes added two and Gilbert one.
Ruholl finished with 21 points on six field goals, four of those three-pointers, and was five of 12 at the line. Kollmann added nine. Lilly Gannaway had six rebounds and four assists.
Named to the all-Tournament Team were Nancy Ruholl and Jackie Vonderheide.
Brownstown/St. Elmo downed Mattoon 46-21 in the semifinals Friday.
BSE ran out to a 13-5 opening quarter lead and led 17-8 at halftime. BSE then had a 15-6 third period.
Dayana Haslett led the way with 16 points on six field goals, two from three-point range, and two of two at the line. Madi Miller finished with 14 points.
The Saturday finals were canceled due to the weather.
