CERRO GORDO — Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a victory while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City suffered a loss at the Cerro Gordo Boys Basketball Tournament Wednesday evening.
Windsor/Stew-Stras pushed into a 13-9 opening quarter lead on Heritage and led 27-15 at halftime. The Hatchets had a 33-28 second half.
Wyatt Wetherell led the way for the Hatchets with 18 points hitting six field goals that included three trifectas and was thre of six at the line. Also in double figures were McDaniel with 11 and Vonderheide with 10.
The Hatchets are now 2-0 on the season.
In the opener, Heyworth was a 59-44 winner over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
The two teams played to an 11-11 opening quarter tie. Lilly led the way for the Bobcats with three baskets for six points while Cosart added a three-pointer.
But Heyworth moved ahead 22-19 at halftime then had a 37-25 second half run.
Clive Schlanser led the way for the Bobcats with 11 points while G. Vaughn added 10.
The tournament continues Friday.
