The Effingham County 911 Board was updated on new tornado sirens in place at two locations in the county at this month’s meeting.

Work continues on getting the new tornado sirens functioning in Teutopolis. Meanwhile, the tornado siren in Altamont has been tested and is working properly.

The Board learned that the RapidWarn computer has arrived and is supposed to be installed this month. The software on the County console can’t be reprogrammed until all the tornado sirens are functioning.

Meanwhile, the Board approved the 911 budget for the coming fiscal year. Total expenses totaled about $170,000 more in expenses than revenues, but carryover funds will cover the balance.

The Board also agreed to purchase 31 $50 gift cards for 911 employees for Christmas.
