Edward W. Thomas, 96, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center with his wife by his side.
Edward was born on April 28, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ernest and Emilie (Hecker) Thomas. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a Bronze Star. Edward married Shirley Mason on March 21, 1953, and she survives.
Edward was a true gentleman, always putting others first, especially his wife. He was a kind man and enjoyed helping his neighbors.
Edward is survived by his wife of 72 years, Shirley Thomas of Effingham. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, William.
