The Midwest Furniture Club has named Wright’s Furniture & Flooring the recipient of its first annual “Generational Legacy Award,” recognizing the fifth-generation family-owned business for its exceptional service and dedication to the Midwest furniture community.
“This award is about shedding light on the people who do business in a way we think is good for everybody – consumers, manufacturers, and employees,” said Midwest Furniture Club Representative, Geoff Weed. “In our world, a retailer’s job is to take care of the customer, and Wright’s does that and more. They are exceptional. We try to encourage that kind of behavior across all our retailers because we want to see more businesses like Wright’s Furniture. When we identify companies that meet our criteria, not just longevity, but doing things the right way, we want to celebrate and reward that. This award is not given simply for legacy, but it is about doing business with integrity.”
The Midwest Furniture Club is a regional organization dedicated to supporting furniture retailers, suppliers, and industry professionals. The organization fosters collaboration, promotes best practices, and celebrates excellence in service and business leadership. The “Generational Legacy Award” not only honors retailers who have successfully sustained their businesses across multiple generations, but it also celebrates those who uphold the highest standards of integrity, ethical values, and commitment to their communities.
“We’re extremely grateful to be recognized for our legacy in the Dieterich community,” said John Wright, president of Wright’s Furniture and Flooring. “Since we opened the business in 1889, our family has been proud to carry the business for five generations, and each has built on the foundation of the ones before.”
Alex Wright, Vice President of Wright’s Furniture and Flooring, says the fact that he’s able to work alongside his family feels like he’s won the lottery, and winning this award is like icing on the cake. “My cousins Devin, Taylor, and I are the fifth generation, and on behalf of the four generations before us, we are deeply humbled to accept this award,” said Wright. “We know we’re stronger together, and that our company and the communities we serve are both important. Building the right team has been key; finding people who share our commitment and passion and empowering them to help make this business thrive for five generations has been crucial to our success.”
“Customer service has always been one of the most important parts of our business, and it’s a legacy that’s been passed on through each generation,” said Devin Wright, Sales Associate at Wright’s Furniture and Flooring. “We’re grateful to our loyal customers, dedicated employees, and trusted partners who have helped make our business what it is today.”
“I think for any family-owned business that has been around for 130 years, one of the biggest keys to success is our ability to adapt to change while still staying true to our values of quality, integrity, and community,” said Taylor Wright, Interior Designer at Wright at Home Interiors. “We’re excited to see what the next 100 years will look like for Wright’s Furniture.”
Wright’s Furniture & Flooring is a fifth-generation family-owned business that is celebrating its 136th anniversary this year.
