KINMUNDY — Neoga was a winner over South Central in both seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball Wednesday evening.
Neoga held off a final quarter challenge in the seventh-grade contest to edge South Central, 34-30.
South Central moved ahead 7-4 in the opening quarter but Neoga came back to lead 14-8 at halftime. Neoga led 23-14 going into the final quarter.
Here came South Central with a 16-11 run only to fall short.
Neoga was led by Bentley Bright with 20 points and Jace McKay with 11.
South Central was led by E. Garner with 10.
In eighth-grade play, Neoga picked up a 46-33 victory. Neoga had a 22-8 second quarter run as Baylor Matusas scored nine and Gage Norhen seven in the quarter. The Indians hit three trifectas as Nohren, Matusas and Liam Kenworthy connected from beyond the arc.
Matusas scored 18 points on seven field goals, and two of two at the line. He hit two three-pointers. Nohren scored 14 points while Kenworthy chipped in with 10.
South Central was led by J. Smith with 16 points, nine coming in the third quarter.
