Odis Eugene Hatten (92) of Mattoon

Odis Eugene Hatten, 92, of Mattoon, Illinois passed Monday November 10, 2025 in the Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, Illinois.

He was born April 7, 1933 in Neoga, Illinois the son of Odis Elmer and Ella E. (McGhee) Hatten.  Odis married Yvette  Jeannine  Philippart  November 6, 1953 in Perthes-en-Gatinuis France, she passed away October 11, 2012.  Odis proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Korea.  He was a farmer, worked at Young Radiator and a retired Tool and Die Maker for B&L Machine & Design.

He was a member of the Christ Fellowship Church in Neoga, Illinois, He was a Master Mason in the Mattoon Masonic Lodge in Mattoon, Illinois and was installed to every officers chair, the Shriner’s International and the Mattoon American Legion in Mattoon, Illinois.  Mr Hatten enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching western movies, doing Sudoku puzzles and especially spending time with family and friends, he never knew a stranger.

Odis is survived by his daughters, Marilyn J. Fowler and husband Charles of rural Toledo, Illinois, Melinda M. Zellers and husband Clyde of Springfield, Illinois and Michelle A. Jones of Mattoon, Illinois; Grandchildren, Angie Young and husband Andy of Springfield, Illinois and A. Shane Jones and wife Kimberly of rural Neoga, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis Elmer and Ella E. Hatten; wife, Yvette Hatten; siblings, Daniel Hatten, Elmer Hatten, Earl Hatten, Josie Tatge, Robert Hatten and Paul Hatten;

Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital For Children.

Masonic Rites by the Mattoon Lodge #260 will held 12:00 Noon Thursday November 13, 2025 in the Swengel – O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois.  Funeral Services will follow the Masonic Service.  Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday November 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM until service time also at the funeral home.  Burial with Military Honors will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon, Illinois.
