Winter paid an early call to the Effingham area on Monday, dropping snowfall, windy conditions and colder temperatures.
Numerous accidents were a problem, both on the interstate and on two-lane roadways, although few involved injuries.
To the north, snowfall amounts of two to three inches were seen over Champaign, Vermilion and Edgar counties, and close to four inches near Rantoul and Hoopeston. We received a dusting of snowfall in this area.
Gusty northwest winds to around 30MPH are expected to diminish this afternoon. Early morning wind chills were near 10 degrees.
The blustery conditions are to be short-lived. We could see temperatures in the 70s by Saturday.
