 NTC Eighth-Grade Tourney, Junior High Girls Basketball Roundup

BEECHER CITY — Neoga moved into the championship game of the Eighth-Grade Girls National Trail Conference Basketball Tournament with a victory Thursday evening.

Neoga was a 42-35 winner over Dieterich.

Neoga edged out to a 10-7 opening quarter lead and led 24-17 at halftime. Neoga then held off Dieterich in the second half as both teams tallied 18 points.

Bliss Bear led the winners with 25 points on nine field goals that included three from beyond the arc and four free throws.

The winners move into the championship game Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against either Sigel St. Michael or Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. That semifinal is tonight at 7:15 p.m.

Dieterich was led by Mackenzie Roedl with 10 points. Emery Bill had eight rebounds and four steals. The Roadrunners will play for third place at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

In consolation bracket play, North Clay was a 28-24 winner over Brownstown/St. Elmo.

North Clay moved into a 9-2 opening quarter lead and led 21-7 at halftime.

BSE came back with a 17-7 second half only to fall short.

North Clay was led in scoring by Janelle Jordan with 15 and Ava Jones with 10.

BSE was led by Baya Tompkins with 14.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis ran past Effingham St. Anthony in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Thursday evening.

The Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 43-4.

T-town held a 24-2 opening half lead. Mette led the way in scoring with seven points while L. Ruholl added six. The Shoes are now 15-1 on the season.

The Bullpups were led by E. Johnson with six points.

In eighth-grade action, T-town won 42-17. The Shoes held a 25-10 halftime lead.

Dennis scored 14 for the winners while Zerrusen added 13. T-town improved to 14-2.

St. Anthony was led by Griffith with five.
