Members of the Effingham Water Authority have approved the tax levy ordinance for the coming year, but decided to delay until the November meeting the decisions on policies and procedures.
Sami Childerson of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources encouraged more than a “handshake agreement” between the two agencies in protecting the Flatwoods and Upland Forest and will bring more detailed information to the November meeting.
The Board discussed options to repair the Topp Acres roadway, one of which includes building up the shoulders and leveling the roadway. Also approved was the sale of Lot 44 at Blue Point to Kevin Koney fpr $25,650, which is within 90% of the appraised value, and also awarded the bid for printing the 2026 boat licenses to low bidder Wortman Printing.
Tom Ryan of the Parks and Rec Committee reported that they are in the process of getting funds for the beach expansion.
It was shared that Dock-0-ween went well, with 12 docks decorated and “lots of boats.”
